OzMafia
by PonyPachet SY and MangaGamer
To the lady who taught me the colors of the world, it seems the journey of the fools who pursue thee is about to unfold.

Character Routes: 3 Oz Guys (Caramia, Kyrie, Axel), 2 Platonic (Scarlet, Paschet), 4 Other (Hamelin, Robin Hood, Sou, Caesar), 1 Brothel (involves Oscar Wilde, Manboy and Alfani simultaneously)
Bad Endings: Yes, I would name them so, but others may disagree
Category: Otome Visual Novel/BxG/Polyamory
Explicit Adult Content: Yes
Personal Favorites: Caramia, Scarlet
MC is a severe amnesiac (yes, she seems ridiculously naive, borderline painfully so, but I think it is supposed to be an amnesia that even removes the most basic human instincts such as suspicion or understanding of lies, as is explained later, so I retroactively forgave her). She is being chased relentlessly by a hunter, and rescued by the three OzMafia guys, who take her in until she can remember which Mafia she is affiliated with (there are several more, like Grimm, Anderson, etc). My favorite aspect was that the Oz guys (yes, I mean Oz as in wizard, the rumors are true) can actually steal MC from each other, leading to a variety of new story outcomes. It was heartbreaking, but completely unusual, and definitely allowed for some new ways of experiencing a story. I was disappointed that Scarlet’s storyline was designed to be platonic, and very put off by Robin Hood (which was just a horrible relationship premise in the end), and the Brothel storyline. It is a game that covers anything from trauma to drama to light and fluffy, in a setting that is both unique (I mean famous fiction characters as mafiosi? Epic!) and entirely mysterious.
When reading reviews about the game, I noticed there are two camps, those who think it is a mess, and those who absolutely love it. To me, there was a serious, dark underlying plot, but MC doesn’t have awareness of it. Which then plunges the player, as clueless as the MC, into this crazy mess of shenanigans and strange events that appear to be completely disjointed. Grenades are thrown into houses and people shot in the face, only for things to be completely unchanged the next day. Until eventually, the storyline, that’s been right there all along, reappears and provides the explanation. I assumed the distraction was intentional and thus brilliantly executed. Well played, devs!
