Sorata is thrown back in time and meets Koharu, a girl with strange powers. She leads him to a ship that is carrying mysterious passengers to an even more enigmatic destination and ultimately to the true fate that lies ahead for them all. Once introduced to the ship and its inhabitants, one then chooses one of the 3 real MCs - Mikoto, Koharu and Nanami. After a little bit of a general path, then the story splits once again for one of three partners that match with each MC. Ron, Masamune and Natsuhiko are locked at first, until one other storypath with their respective MC has been completed. Once all storylines have been completed, Sorata’s storyline can also be finished - clearing up how and why he ended up in the past to begin with. Honestly, I understand the reflex of saying: All the romance is over. Why do I care about smelly, little Sorata? It’s worth it, trust me. Also what a horrible person you are for thinking that!!
Norn 9 was my second otome ever, and I liked it quite a bit. As time passed on, I found many I liked a little better, but I still think its a good story. I could not get over Ron, he was a bit too much for me. However, an interesting side point for his story is that he was the only one who didn’t just have a good ending affection meter, but a super tragic affection one. Also, even if you’re in the habit of avoiding bad endings, I found the Masamune ending, that literally warns you that you’re stumbling into a bad ending, more amusing than bad and was not disappointed for following it. Just a thought ;)
