Imagine you wake up in an eerie, monochrome room, chained to a pipe. Across the room, a sleeping girl chained to a sofa, one you've never seen before. Now, you must rely on each other to puzzle your way out of the escape room adventure you don't remember signing up for.
For starters, I want to warn that the disclaimer is not for show. There are a lot of trigger worthy events to be seen. That being said, the game did not feel quite as dark as the subject, but the scenery and music was definitely unnerving. In a good way, anyway.
The puzzles were not overly complicated, and overall, solving them was enjoyable. My biggest complaint is that the few times I did get hopelessly stuck, it was really hard to reconnect with what small item I may have missed. But everything was solvable, just had to keep looking and never assume something was meaningless. (Tap, Handle, Same thing? No?). In any case, for those frustrating moments, I wrote a hint to answer guide on this page.
The relationship between Chris and Beryl is endearing, and developed in interesting ways depending upon the player's choices. The story and the related twist were equally good. However, being a jerk to Beryl was really really hard, and not my favorite time of the game play. Also, I haven't found it, but I do hope somewhere in there is an epilogue to what happens after. I would love to see it sometime... For an indie game written by a very small team, it was very well executed. I am very pleased to be one of its kick starter supporters.
