Oh, Dogenzaka labs, I shall lament your flaws forever... If there is something that needs to be known about the Yoshiwara franchise, it’s this: it revolves around men enslaved in a red-light district on a secluded island, where women use them to have offspring. If you think that sounded like a stable…yes it does. So which stallion is your choice? Eheheheheh *cough*. Kikuya, the first one, features a young girl MC getting enchanted by the ethereal magic displayed by the brothels. In Oghiya, on the other hand, MC is a rich heiress MC seeking to get pregnant. The men are seductive and pushy (as is their job, right?), but interesting.

Kikuya’s writing is atrocious, I mean have you ever seen a mole swirl seductively? Apparently, they have. But there were these sweet elements that are unique to the circumstance in which they take place, and I could not resist these charms.

In Oghiya, the writing quality improved and the art got a slight upgrade, but somehow, it lost some of the more charming elements of the first one. I can’t put my finger on why, exactly. I think it just felt a lot like “let’s vomit out a sequel because we can?” I did enjoy seeing characters from Kikuya showing up and causing trouble in Oghiya, and overall, both games turned out readable enough.
